‘The Swinging 60s’ Open Mic Theme Night

Yes, it’s that time again – theme open mic, with the theme this time being The Swinging 60s.  So, you have carte blanche to choose anything from Frank Ifield (I remember him!), through The Beatles to Jefferson Airplane.  There are lots of 60s songs in the ChUG songbook – ‘Glad All Over’, ‘All My Loving’, ‘Delilah’ etc. or you could go for Hendrix’s ‘Purple Haze’, The Who’s ‘My Generation’ or the classic ‘My Boomerang Won’t Come Back’ by Charlie Drake.

‘The Swinging 60s’ open mic night will take place on Monday September 21st in place of the normal club night.  As usual songs can be performed individually or as a duo or group and you may be able to perform more than one song – depending on how many entries we get and you are also all welcome to sing along with the songs.

The open mic performances may be filmed but if you really do not want to be filmed, please tell a leader before you go on stage and Paddy will not publish the recording. To view the ChUG video/photo policy click on this link.

To register your chosen song, send an email with your name and song title to g.e.harrison@blueyonder.co.uk  and I’ll add it to a list on the website or say the song has already been chosen.  If you would like to dress up in 60s gear that would be fab – I’ll be pairing kaftan and loon pants with a Beatle wig (Mersey brown) – looking forward to another entertaining evening!
