‘Food & Drink’ Open Mic Theme Night

Yes, it’s open mic night time again and the theme this time is Food & Drink i.e. any song with food or drink in the title – so you could go for ‘Strawberry Fields’ by The Beatles or ‘Brown Sugar’ by the Stones or for traditionalists ‘Boiled Beef and Carrots’ by Billy Cotton’s Band (there’s one for the teenagers!). Plus, we’ve already got ‘Jambalaya’, Tequila Sunrise’, ‘Banana Boat Song’, ‘Whiskey in the Jar’ and ‘American Pie’ in the ChUG songbook.

The ‘Food & Drink’ open mic night will take place on Monday 9th of March at Charlton Kings Club in place of the normal club night. As usual songs can be performed individually or by groups and, depending on the take up, you may be able to perform more than one song. The open mic performances may be filmed but if you really do not want to be filmed please tell a leader before you go on stage and Paddy will not publish the recording. Send an email to g.e.harrison@blueyonder.co.uk to register your chosen song or tell me on a club night and I’ll (in combination with Paddy) compile a list of songs/performers on the website. If you want to really guarantee that your songs get onto the list please attach steaks, boxes of chocolates, bottles of whiskey etc. with your entries – only joking (or am I…)
