'Water Water Everywhere' Open Mic Night
–
November 3, 2025
Our next theme open mic night is ‘Water, water everywhere’ – no not songs based on Samuel Taylor Coleridge poems but songs about water in all its forms – oceans, seas, lakes, rivers, rain, puddles - you could even have tears! There are already songs in the ChUG songbook that you could perform like ‘The Water is Wide’, ‘The Tide is High’, ‘Ferry Across the Mersey’ etc. or you could go for Simon and Garfunkel’s ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’ or coming a bit more up to date Travis’ “Why Does it Always Rain On Me?’ or James Bay’s ‘Hold Back the River .
The 'Water, water everywhere’' open mic night will take place on Monday 3rd November at Charlton Kings Club in place of the normal club night. As usual songs can be performed individually or by groups and, depending on the take up, you may be able to perform more than one song.
The performances may be filmed during the open mic but if you really do not want to be filmed please tell a leader before you go on stage and Paddy will not publish the recording. To view the ChUG video/photo policy click on this link.
To register your chosen song send an email to g.e.harrison@blueyonder.co.uk or tell me on a club night and I'll (in combination with Paddy) compile a list of songs/performers on the website. If you like you could even dress appropriately on the night - bikinis, Speedos, mermaid’s tails, sou’westers etc. we’ll leave that up to you…
