Punk & New Wave Theme Night

Following our last theme open mic night, ‘WTF – What the Folk’ – for our next one we are coming (slightly) more up-to-date with a ‘PUNK and NEW WAVE’ theme night.  So we are looking for punk songs by The Sex Pistols, The Dammed, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Iggy Pop etc. as well as by more modern punk bands like Green Day and Blink 182.  We are also looking for songs by ‘New Wave’ artists such as The Police, Elvis Costello, Blondie, Talking Heads, The Stranglers etc. (And if you’re thinking that these songs aren’t appropriate for the ukulele can I remind you that the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain do songs by The Sex Pistols and The Clash!)

The ‘PUNK and NEW WAVE’ open mic night will be held on Monday 23rd. March 2020 in place of the normal club night.

As usual, songs can be performed individually or by groups and, depending on how many people sign up, you may be able to perform more than one song. You are encouraged to sing along!

To register your song send an email to g.e.harrison@blueyonder.co.uk and Paddy and myself will compile a list of songs/performers on the website (please check this list to make sure that no one is already doing ‘your’ song).

You are welcome to wear ripped clothing, safety pins and bondage gear on the night but please NO SPITTING – indeed Musty has said that anyone gobbing at him when he performs Tom Robinson’s “Glad To Be Gay” will have their heads kicked in Johnny Rotten style…
