9:00 am: Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway's Santa Specials@Winchcombe railway station

December 16, 2017

I have arranged dates for ChUG to play at Winchcombe railway station for the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway's Santa Specials.

We will go on Saturday 16th December and Thursday 21st December.

The plan for both days will be the same and goes like this:

Trains arrive at Winchcombe at approx. 1000, 1145, 1330 and 1515.
Each train sits in the station for 90 minutes while the passengers get out to go and see Santa and have refreshments.
We start playing as the train pulls in and play for about 30 minutes. Then have a little break. Then play again for the last 30 minutes before the train departs, and wave to the passengers as they leave.
As you see from the timetable there is only a break of about 15 minutes between trains, just a chance to warm up again in the waiting room.
We play on the platform, in the open air but under the canopy. The space is a little bit restricted - we won't need more than 15 players.

You don't need to commit to the whole day, I'll make a list of players on a train by train basis so let me know which ones you'll do.

The songs will be unashamedly Christmas ones and we'll sing them over and over again to fill the time. (If we want a bigger repertoire we have a few weeks to learn some new Christmas songs!)

Christmas hats, jumpers etc. will be compulsory! If you don't dress up you'll stick out like a sore thumb - all the railway staff wear elf jumpers and ears.

We'll collect money for Winston's Wish - it seems appropriate to support a children's charity and this one is local.

I can arrange more dates with the railway if you're really keen and can't make either of these dates! They'd be glad to have us, they say.

Please let me know your availability.
